Last Day in Williamsburg

Well I've had lots of things to share lately and haven't shared the rest of my Virginia adventure. So sorry. There is still more to share including Monticello and Montpelier. I promise I won't take this long to share the rest soon. Well the last day of our Williamsburg tour we had a relaxed day of window shopping, touring town, museum hopping, and of course visiting the pub.

Jane was checking out the wares.

Pretty dresses.

Lovely Red Riding Hoods.

Jane likes tea.

Picking out new ink!

...and quills.

Pretty dresses at the tailor

Adorable doll house! Reminded us of Tasha Tudor. Some of her clothing is on display at the museum.

Time for drinks!

Visiting the Capitol Building. http://www.history.org/almanack/places/hb/hbcap.cfm

Georgia certainly has changed!

Visiting the jail! Here's Jane with Blackbeard! Yikes!

Oh no!!!

We helped Jane escape and made a run for it!

Animals out to pasture. Sheep:)

Pretty horses.

Ending the day with a parade.

The Lightfoot House. Such a beautiful house!

Jane agrees we are all women of distinction.

Don't mind if I do.

Douceur de France

Well it's been a busy week! I'm so excited about this fall weather and a new season and holiday to celebrate. But before I share some of the holiday spirit I wanted to share the latest Jane mini adventure. I met a friend the other day at a little French patisserie and restaurant in Marietta, Douceur de France. I love the new location, easier to find and a more up to date design and decor, and wanted to share it with Jane and une amie. We met up for some tea, quiche, and conversation. I must say reading Carol Gillott's blog {http://parisbreakfasts.blogspot.com/} inspires me every day to do all sorts of things including painting pastries in a cafe. While I haven't gotten that far the spirit of just hanging out in a cafe, or anywhere, and taking in your surroundings or reading a book is inspiring. A little joie de vivre. I can imagine I'm in Paris or New York can't I!? And to top it off Carol now has a little bear like Jane who travels with her. Check it out!
It just so happened we were seated at table 22. My favorite number!

Taking Tea

It's so hard picking out just the right treat

Look at all those lovely gateaux!

We settled on a Napoleon. Classic.

Happy Birthday To You!

Today is a day of celebrations! It is Maman's birthday as well as Tante Sue Sue's! (Happy Birthday en Floride!)
It was such a lovely October day today. Mom and I created a scarecrow decoration for the garden. She is lovely non!

Pockets Full of Pumpkin Seeds

Cookie's going for a roll in the hay

Bennet looks cute in this one:)
Isn't this paper cute! Un petit cadeau

I made a delicous dinner that was actually pretty easy to make. I found a recipe for Hawaiian pulled pork sandwiches that you cook in a slow cooker. I couldn't find pork shoulder so I bought country pork ribs. The recipe calls for all sorts of spices including pineapple juice, soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, paprika, garlic, onions, etc. I tweaked it a bit to make it fit what I had. I started cooking late, around 11pm, finished everything shortly after midnight, and let it cook all night. I turned it off at 7 am. It was super tender and after I let it cool the meat fell apart easily for pulled pork!
For the sides I made asian slaw, topped with peanuts and chow mein noodles for crunch and I cooked up a ginger soy dressing. I also made my corn cakes again! All of these flavors tasted great together, top a corn cake with slaw and pork! An alternative to the same old pork sandwich.

Of course Baby arrived shortly after the plate hit the table.

...and Bennet wasn't far off either.

I was going through our children's books earlier, I'm going to share some of my fall favorites in a blog very soon, and found this one. I LOVE the Little Critter collection. Always a favorite growing up.

Baby helped mommy find the frog. There he is!! In each book you have to find Little Critters friends. In the other books it is spider and cricket.

Mom made a wish on a Little Debbie cupcake for dessert. (Hint: Her name is Debbie:))

A fun day overall. Now off to watch "The Middle" and "Modern Family." Lots more to blog about this week! Teaser: Jane and I went to a patisserie the other day. Stay tuned!

Have a bright night!
